This image has been cropped as only her thies are showing. This was done to draw attention to her thies and curves. It makes the image look larger allowing the readers to see in more detail. Also this is a high angle shot which puts the readers in a position of power and makes Britney vulnerable.
Britney’s image is very revealing. She is wearing a bikini top with shorts and, the colours are bland as the setting makes it stand out. This provocative clothing shows that she is appealing to a male audience, preferably a younger audience as she still looks like a teen in this image. Also it shows her in a sexy light; making her a sex symbol.
The only two props used is a telephone and telitubbie. Britney puts it to her ear but still looks directly at the camera this shows that she is using a direct mode of address which shows that she wants to build a relationship with the reader. The audience relates the telephone to a sexual nature as her facial expression is very sexual. The telitubbie on the other hand represents an innocent, more youthful Britney.
Britney is lying on a silk sheet. As silk represents a more sensual nature the audience is forced to take note of this. The colour purple is a royal colour which makes Britney very important. It puts her in a very important and powerful royal position. This means the readers look up to her.
The only intertextual reference that is made is the telitubbie as it is the only thing that really stands out. Her body can be divided into two parts one focusing on her sexual grown up side and the other on her more childlike innocent side. Her head is faced to the grown up and sexual side which shows that that is where she feels more comfortable or where she is in her life, at the moment.Simple colours such as black and white are used to show simplicity but the purple is a royal colour which puts the whole cover into context as that’s what her audience see her as royalty.
