Britney Spears Analysis 2

This image focuses on Britney’s upper body. Her legs have been cropped off which maker her upper body the main attraction, drawing attention to her womanly curves. A mid-shot has been used to show her body off but also allows the readers to see part of the setting/backdrop.

Britney is using a direct mode of address, looking at the reader builds a friendship and allows them to relate to one another. Her costume is very limited she is wearing plain white underwear and a sheet covering up her chest. Her pose is very sexual as her back is curved and all her womanly assets are pushed out drawing attention to her body. This gives off the impression of a sexual nature. It is not sleazy which is why it would appeal to many people. The fact she barely has any clothing on suggests the target audience for this magazine would be young males as in the pop world she is very rated among young people.

The lighting used is very bright showing her off in a heavenly image. As everything is light it gives off a clean and vibrant feel, which evidently is what makes this image not look sleazy as everything is done in class. The shadows however are there to highlight certain parts of her body which the readers would immediately take note of.

The colours used are red and white. The white symbolizes purity and innocence which would attract the target audience as at the time Britney was seen as these things. The red lining however on her underwear is a contrast of this as red symbolizes passion, anger and love. As the red is an insignificant amount it barely has any meaning but against the white it gets the readers thinking and challenges the idea of Britney being pure and innocent.
